Port of Kristiansand

Land Transport and Travel To and From Port Kristiansand
(Kristiansand, Vest Agder, Norway)

Kristiansand Port is easily accessible by road and rail, with the main E18 from Oslo running right past and a train station near the harbour.

Buses run to destinations nationwide and taxis and hotel shuttles provide convenient local transport.

Travel by Bus and Shuttles

The town centre of Kristiansand is only a few minutes' walk away from the port. Buses can provide transportation to other Norwegian destinations from the town centre. The top hotels may also provide courtesy shuttle transfers to and from the ferry terminal although you should contact your hotel ahead of time for confirmation on this.

Car Hire and Road Travel

The approach roads to the Port of Kristiansand from the town and farther afield are excellent, which can be said for the road network in Norway in general. The main E18 motorway provides direct access to Kristiansand from the capital, Oslo, while the E39 carries on round to the city of Stavanger on the southwest coast.

As the town centre is very close to the ferry terminal, it is possible to walk in and hire a car; however, it is recommended that you consider booking hire cars online, particularly during the busy summer season, as cars are in high demand and online rates are usually cheaper.

Trains and Rail Travel

Trains run directly to the port of Kristiansand, which has access to the National Railway network. There are approximately five services per day from Kristiansand to Oslo, providing fast access to and from the capital city.

Car Parking

There is a car park at the ferry terminal with short-term and long-term spaces available, as well as disabled parking spaces. Long-term parking is ideal for those who don't plan on taking their cars onboard.

Travel by Taxis

Taxis await the arrival of every ferry and provide fast access to the town centre of Kristiansand and to hotels in the area. An information board near the arrivals area of the ferry terminal contains the telephone numbers of local taxi firms.
